Sim-Lab is building wheelbases now. Here's what the DD26 and DD39 actually are:

The cockpit company wants the front of your rig too. Two new direct drive bases, up to 39 Nm, pre-orders open August 1.

Sim-Lab is building wheelbases now. Here's what the DD26 and DD39 actually are:

Sim-Lab has been the cockpit company for years. If you own an aluminum profile rig, there's a decent chance their name is on it. Now they want to be the thing bolted to the front of it too.

Pre-orders for their first wheelbases, the DDS TorqueSync range, open August 1 at 16:00 UTC in Europe and the US. Two models: the DD26 at 26 Nm and the DD39 at 39 Nm. Yeah, that second number caught our attention too.

The Short Version

  • DD39 TorqueSync: 39 Nm peak torque, €1,999 pre-order price (roughly $2,300 USD)
  • Otherwise identical, the DD39 is just about 2.4 kg heavier

What's actually interesting under the hood

Sim-Lab didn't just release another direct drive base. They built one around a 350V internal bus instead of the 48V architecture almost everyone else uses, paired with a DSP control loop running north of 100 kHz and a 24-bit encoder. Higher voltage means the motor can change torque faster, and fast torque changes are where detail lives. Curb strikes, grip loss, that first millisecond of a slide. Whether it feels as good as it reads on paper, nobody knows yet, because no one outside Sim-Lab has driven a production unit.

The other headline is the open ecosystem. USB data passthrough, auxiliary channels, and a dedicated power line, all designed to take steering wheels from any brand. That's a shot straight at the walled gardens. If you already own wheels you love, this matters more than any torque figure on this page.

Mounting looks like the least interesting part of the launch, and that's a compliment. Slots on all four sides, front-mount support, and Sim-Lab already makes the rig you're bolting it to. Pretty standard for most 80/20 cockpits as well. 

About that 39 Nm

Most racers run 8 to 15 Nm day to day. Even owners of monster bases turn them down. We'd bet the vast majority of sim racers would never feel the difference between these two once they're actually lapping.

High peak torque buys headroom, not arm-wrestling. The base never clips, never flattens a curb strike because it ran out of ceiling. 26 Nm already gives you all of that.

The DD39 is for race teams, commercial sim centers, and the handful of people who just want the biggest wheelbase money can buy. No judgment. Everyone else just saved €500.

Where it sits in the market

At €1,499 the DD26 lands almost exactly on the Simucube 3 Pro, which is a bold place to plant your flag for a first product. The DD39 undercuts the Simucube 3 Ultimate by roughly €1,200.

Sim-Lab is basically saying: we already earned your trust on the chassis, now trust us with the force feedback. Worth noting, this isn't a rushed product. Drivable prototypes have been on the floor at SimRacing Expo and Sim Formula Europe since 2025, and the feedback from each round of public testing visibly made it into the next revision. Motors are the easy half of a wheelbase, though. Firmware and game support are where every new wheelbase maker gets tested, and that's the part we're most curious to see.

Should you pre-order?

Already shopping in Simucube 3 Pro territory? The DD26 just became a real option, and the included Quick Release V2 isn't nothing. On a Sim-Lab rig and planning a big upgrade anyway? The integration story is legitimately appealing.

Not in a hurry? Wait for reviews. There's no shipping date yet, and pre-order deposits are refundable, so there's no penalty for deciding later either way.

Sim-Lab convinced thousands of racers to trust them with the chassis. Convincing those same people to trust them with force feedback is a much harder trick, and it makes this one of the more interesting launches we'll watch this year.
